Bil-pakeit, Part 2

It's 12:00 British Summer Time, Saturday afternoon. I'm sat typing this in my bathrobe, having just come out from an extended shave and scrub session (the longer version of the infamous Shit, Shower, and Shave).

This morning at around 10:00 I finished the final leg of my "week" of nights, ie the last 3 shifts. As always, it wasn't too busy and wasn't too quiet, just normal medical crap that has to come in each night (Chest pains, overdoses, epilepsy etc).
I got home, and instead of going to sleep first then scrubbing second, I decided to get it all out of the way, so I can go to sleep happy (and clean). The difference this time is that Kelly also clipped my hair (the universal NUMBER ONE cut that I've had for yonks). So, in addition to shaving my face and trimming my beard, I've also clipped my hair. This is seriously Bil-pakeit.

Now: Gonna have a hearty "celebration" breakfast (aka A Good Old British Fry Up), and then sleep for 3 hours. This evening I'm hoping to watch Stranger Than Fiction with Kelly and then do some 360 lovin' with The Boy and his "al EmaraTi" friend, who's also called Ali and owns all 3 consoles.

SoB out.......

Having just finished watching 'Pan's Labyrinth', I got nothing else left to do but officially declare it one FUCKED UP MOVIE...
I mean don't get me wrong.. it was, how can I say this?... mucho bonito, excelente, and magnifico... yet, LOCO... seriously, as simple as the main element of the movie is, it yields such tremendous warmth and a way too powerful feel to it.

Now, having watched one of ur recommendations, let me return the favor. Go for
'daisy'
. It's a Korean movie... ermmm.. it's just that telling u anything about it would take away so much from the experience. I wouldn't have enjoyed it, as much as i did, if i hadn't been absolutely oblivious to it. All I can say is that it's perfect for a couple like u and Kelly. But if u have to, then read that one-line summary plot in imdb. Trust me dude.

And if u wanna watch anything in the rank of 'Hero' and 'House of flying daggers', I've recently watched and LOVED 'The promise' and 'The banquet'. They also say that 'Curse of the golden flower' is very good... OK? Yella take care.

Erm, so do you like Pan's or not?

if you don't, you're banned from here :p

right, daisy it is

I have a golden flower dvd somewhere in the crypts of my pc, I still haven't gotten round to seeing it.

back to Pan's. In about 2 days time you'll be thinking about Ofelia and her tragic end, and you'll think some more and then realise that the film has stayed with you. You'll watch it again and then really appreciate it. After that, you'll be ranting about it forever and tell all your friends to see it and also think that you can predict the future, and tell them what will happen when they see it.

After all, it is a magical film, and it gives magical powers :p

Off to work. I'll hunt daisy down.

Do I like it?!!! well, hell yeah. I watched it 2 times in a row!!! hehehe, that's how much I liked it. And to top things off, this morning I ordered the limited edition from Hong Kong!

What I meant, by labeling it "ONE FUCKED MOVIE", is that movie makers shouldn't be allowed to make such powerful movies. By the time it's done, u get brain damage from being so overwhelmed(like what happened with 'Oldboy', I must've killed a few hundred million brain cells watching that, and now THIS!).

One more thing... Did u check out the
Trivia
for Pan's labyrinth on imdb? very interesting.

I see I see!

yes I totally agree

I've had oldboy ever since it came out on dvd, and I haven't seen it yet! don't know why, but I really should..

I have the double dvd pan's, and the second dvd is basically most of that trivia on imdb. The 20 minute standing ovation is allegedly an overstatement. But who cares, the thing is fucking awesome.

right, gotta watch oldboy and daisy

oh one more thing, so was Pan's Labyrinth real or imagination? Was she really Princess Monella or was it just her brain coping with the violet world?

I would like to believe it's real, she is a Princess. But each time I watch it I realise that it's all just imagination and it's just a story of a violent war, a vilent step-dad, and a little girl that dies prematurely. Poor thing.

I'm the type that prefers to believe it was the magical end...., rather than shedding a few tears to the bitter realistic end.

she's the real princess and anyone saying otherwise will have to toe the line with me.
no one speaks ill about the princess after all she's gone through.

thank you SoB for pushing me to watch it..

i really really am still affected by this movie. too powerful.

watch Oldboy! watch it watch it watch it! (before they do the stupid Hollywood remake)

Hmmm, the only thing that points towards Ofelia really being The Princess is her escape from the locked room using the magical chalk...

The main point against it is the fact that her step-dad found her in the labyrinth talking to nothing, while she thought that she was talking to Pan. Also, he found her quite easily despite her "imagining" that the walls of the labyrinth opened up to let her in, then sealed up again.

That, and of course the stupid fact that at the very end, as she lies there bleeding to death, she imagines the big room with her "real" mum and dad etc, but then the last scene of them all is just that of a young girl that's bleeding to death :(

As I'm typing this I'm getting more and more pissed off at that fucker step-dad.

As you say India, this film is LOCO, WAY TOO POWERFUL.

Saw Oldboy today, EXCELLENT film.

The disturbing/shocking fact when it's revealed really did catch me in suprise, I didn't expect/see it at all.
I think the scene where he's begging that his girlfriend isn't told the truth is truely amazing, he should have gotten an Oscar for it.

9/10 definitely
