Quakelive open beta now..... open!

The Quakelive open beta just opened!

As expected, the servers are being hammered, but I managed to register!

I'm still intrigued as to how id have pulled running the game within a browser, an amazing feat if it works well!

For those that don't know, Quakelive is Quake 3 Arena for free, which runs within a browser window. It's id's way of saying thank you to all it's fans. Awesome.

If you do join, look me up: Sobtanian.

See you in the arena, marine!

PS: I'm told by reliable sources that you can also set it to run fullscreen. Awesome x2.

Did you even get to play it?

You can pick a number of different windowed sizes (640x480 being the default) or go fullscreen though the FOVs can't be adjusted to compensate for widescreen. Awesome x0.8(3).

As for the 'feat' of running a desktop program in a browser as a plugin, let me give you some hints: Windows Media Player, Apple QuickTime, Adobe Acrobat, Macromedia Shockwave, and pretty any ActiveX control or Mozilla plugin out there.

No never played it, queue system was broken!

You're always keen to point out that it's not such a big deal , what id have done. I don't understand why though.

It's a feat in my eyes yes. A feat from the perspective of a game that could barely run on my PC 11 years ago can now run inside my browser window.

Just like you can run whole NES games inside browserss, a feat compared to the big box needed to play them back in the 80s.

Now stop pissing on the parade and apologise on twitter :p
